    1972 Manuel Contreras
    Concert Classical Guitar.
This is a top-level professional concert classical guitar. It was made in the Contreras workshop in Madrid, Spain. The guitar was hand-built by Manuel Contreras Sr. as the guitar is signed.
I bought this guitar from the original owner, who ordered it directly from Manuel Contreras Sr. and owned it for 50 years. This is one of the most original and well-kept Contreras guitars of this era that I have ever seen.
The overall condition of this guitar is excellent. There were no cracks in the back, sides or top of this guitar. The entire guitar’s finish is original, with the exception of touching up a string mark behind the bridge and a small ding in the neck finish. Both were touched up and polished using fine lacquers.
This hand-crafted guitar was built using solid straight grain Brazilian Rosewood for the back and sides, a Cedar neck and a solid Spruce top. The binding and headstock cap are made using the finest Brazilian rosewood. The guitar has a beautiful Contreras signature rosette with matching bridge embellishment.
I’ve owned several Contreras guitars in the last few years including a 1985 Double Top and a 1987 Jazz Cutaway and I feel this is one of the best sounding of his guitars I have come across, among many great ones.
Scale length on this guitar is 664 millimeters. This scale length gives the guitar good power, while remaining clear. Nut width is 52 millimeters.
The ebony fretboard is in e
xcellent condition. The guitar has just been refretted and has very good intonation. Action on the 12th fret low E string is 3.9 millimeters and the 12th fret high E string measures 3.0 millimeters.
This guitar comes equipped with its original hand engraved gold Fustero tuning keys. They are smooth, with good precision and they hold tune well.
The original label is in very good condition and is signed by Manuel Contreras.
The guitar will be carefully packed and shipped in the good
    condition original hardshell case.
